On December 23, 2009 the Okie Twisters met at the Skyline Cafe in Oklahoma City for breakfast. Afterwards, we drove to the Norman Vet Center and participated in a wonderful Christmas party for the veterans living there. The party was also attended by several other groups, including representatives from Tinker Air Force Base. We, along with the other groups, brought gifts to pass out to the veterans. We got to talk with and meet many wonderful men & women who had proudly served their country in war & in peace. The first 3 images were taken at the Skyline Cafe. The balance of images were taken at the Christmas party. We want to bring your attention to one particular image... the 4th image in column one. John Reddy is standing next to Alfred Fields, a 102 year old veteran. He was born in 1907 and told us he almost wasn't drafted for World War II because he was almost too old at that time. It was a terrific honor to meet and talk with him. |
